HUNGARIAN EXTREMIST PARTY TO SET UP COMPLAINTS OFFICE. The
Hungarian Justice and Life Party (MIEP) will set up an office
in February that will seek to uncover privatization deals
deemed "harmful to the Hungarian nation," party chairman
Istvan Csurka told Hungarian media on 13 January. Csurka
added that the "Exploration of Hungary" office will be run by
the Hungarian Way Foundation and the Ady Endre Press
Foundation. He added that he will be personally responsible
for the office's operations. MSZ

NEMETH TO RETURN TO HUNGARY THIS SPRING. Former Prime
Minister Miklos Nemeth will return to Hungary in April on
leaving his post as vice president of the London-based
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,
"Nepszabadsag" reported on 14 January. Opposition Socialist
Party (MSZP) parliamentary member Bela Katona will be
responsible for preparing Nemeth's public appearances, and a
special team has been set up to work on his "domestic image."
In recent months, Nemeth has had several meetings with the
MSZP leadership about his possible return to Hungarian
politics, and his name has been mentioned as a possible MSZP
candidate for the Hungarian presidency. MSZ
