hogy itt mar tobbrol van szo, mint figyelemfelkeltesrol, es a 
szukseges  tennivalokat foglalja ossze.
Idezem:
Maff (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food); the DoE 
(Department of Environment); the Department of Health; the 
Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive represented 
the government, while industry was represented by the Chemical 
Industries Association, the British Plastic Federation, the Water 
Services Association, Cefic (the European Chemical Industries 
Federation) and Ecetoc (the European Center for Ecotoxicology and 
Toxicology pf Chemicals).  Other bodies represented included 
Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth (FoE) and the World Wildlife Fund.
Over the course of the meeting these groups managed to agree a list 
of needs for the future in what is, all admit, a rather patchily 
understood area.  These needs are:
- to define better the extent of human reproductive disorders
- to investigate the consequences to natural wildlife populations of 
observed experimental effects
- to develop agreed screening tests and assays
- to understand better the mechanisms of action of endocrine 
disruptors
- to allow for more open access to information
- to take into account the effects of chemical mixtures
- to substitute chemicals of proven concern with due regard for 
safety of the replacement.  
Erdekes lenne a jovobe latni, hogy az evolucios folyamatok kepesek 
lennenek-e  az oesztrogen hormon-mimik vegyuletek hatasat
 csokkenteni, hiszen a gen onzo (Dawkins) es szaporodni akar, kerul 
amibe kerul.

On-line Environmental Database Launched

The Association of Environmental Service Companies, which is a
professional association of environmental businesses in Hungary, and
the State Computer Services Rt have established the first on-line
environmental database in Hungary, which was demonstrated for the
public this Thursday (June 13, 1996).

The database contains data on environmental service companies and
their activities, as well as data on environmental supervision, water
administration and waste material treatment organisations.  Laszlo
Kovacs, President of the Association of Environmental Service
Companies said.

Currently the data of 331 companies operating in Hungary are
registered in the database, and this includes 40-50% of all 
companies involved in this field in Hungary.  

Data can be retrieved in three ways: through the Internet (see above 
URL), through a system of a computer and a modem (Bulletin Board Service), 
or through a touch tone fax machine.

Data can be retrieved for free, only the regular communication costs
must be paid.  Data can be added to the database for free until
September 30, after which a company's basic data will be stored for an
annual HUF 5,000.

The Environmental Information System is planned to be supplemented in
the near future by the effective environmental laws and regulations,
tenders invited by the Central Fund for the Environment and a waste
material market.  The only catch, however, the database is in 
Hungarian only.
