Database Administrator

The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Easterrn Europe (REC) is
now accepting applications for the position of Database Administrator. The
REC is an independent, international organization. The REC's mission is to
promote cooperation among diverse environmental groups and interests in
Central and Eastern Europe. The REC is active in 13 countries from the
Baltic States to Albania. Under it's information exchange program REC is
establishing an electronic network between it's Local Offices and
environmental stakeholders throughout the region in cooperation with other
institutions and projects. 

The Database Administrator will be responsible for restructuring and
managing in-house databases on a consistent client/server based model, and
supervising of a wide variety of networking and Internet applications.

The position is based in our Budapest office. The ideal candidate will be
from the CEE region and have many of the following qualifications:

1. Good knowledge and experience with the following computer platforms  and
operation systems: 
 . Novell NetWare 3.12; 
 . IBM PC/Windows for CEE v3.1 and Windows 95; 
 . Windows NT 
 . TCP/IP and Internet related experinence for all of the above mentioned 
platforms.

3. Experience in system supervision and maintenance of the following
services: 
 . WWW server software 
 . firewalls and LAN network security

4. Experience with Oracle7 Workgroup/2000 server, WebSystem 1.0, and
development of client applications.

5. Fluency in English, Hungarian (optional).

6. At least one-year related experience.

7. University degree in computer sciences or information technology.
