IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AMERICAN IMMIGRANT VISA 
AVAILABILITY

Brief Summary of the
NEW VISA LOTTERY PROVISIONS OF THE IMMIGRATION ACT OF 1990

The US government passed a law, effective October 1, 1991, that, in 
addition to the normal route to immigrating to the US, a certain 
number of Immigrant visas will be issued on a first come first serve 
basis, to be determined by a lottery. You may wish to have your 
family or friends to know about it.

At this stage the exact procedure has not yet been determined, but 
we are accepting names of persons interested. As soon as the 
process is final, we shall then notify you of what steps need to be 
taken to register.  Many of the following provisions are annual, in 
that they can be repeated each year and you can re-register, if you 
were not picked in the previous lottery.

IMMIGRANT VISAS BASED ON DIVERSITY - "VISA LOTTERY"
The act provides for three types of visa lotteries:
1. A new system for issuing 50,000 visas annually for people from 
"underrepresented" countries (to be defined), effective 10/1/94. 

2. The act creates a one year "transition visa" for aliens who have 
already won the lottery and have been notified of their eligibility 
for an NP-5 visa by 5/1/90. This provision creates additional visa 
numbers for the existing Jan. 1987 NP-5 lottery.

3. The act also creates 40,000 visas per year for citizens of 
"adversely affected" countries, as described under the current NP-5 
program.  This is a 3 year program, commencing in fiscal year 1992 
through 1994, which allows annual re-registration. "Adversely 
affected" states include the following countries; 
	Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Austria,Belgium, Bermuda, 
Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, 
Gibraltar, Breat Britain & Northern Ireland, Guadeloupe, HUNGARY, 
Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, 
Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, New Caledonia, Norway, Netherlands, 
Poland, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia.
